Description:
Serial #4369, .30 RF, 3 1/8” octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore. This is a seldom seen, solid frame pocket revolver that was manufactured in defiance of the Rollin White patent prior to the eventual halt of production. The barrel and cylinder pin retain about 75% plus of their original bright nitre blue with the balance having mottled freckling throughout. This carries over to the cylinder which still has visible bright, original blue within a mostly plum-brown patina. The brass frame (which has a remarkably fragile, and intact original loading gate assembly) has about 70-75% of the original silver finish remaining with the balance having turned to a dull ochre patina. The rosewood grips are in very good shape with some small handling marks and flaking of the original piano varnish finish along the butt flare. The cylinder lock-up is still tight and the mechanism is fully functional. These were very well-made little revolvers that are not often encountered today (even though a surprisingly high total of about 6,000 are estimated to have been made), and certainly not with this much original blue remaining. This example is in fine condition and would make a nice addition to any collection. Antique
