15-63 SHARPS NEW MODEL 1859 CIVIL WAR CARBINE 52 CALIBER
Sharps New Model 1859 Civil War Carbine 52 Caliber. Iron furniture. 22” bbl., 39” overall length. Marking near breech: New Model 1859, markings on bbl. Sharps Manufacture Co. /Hartford, Conn. Markings left side of receiver: C. Sharps Pat. Sept. 12, 1848. : C. Sharps’ Pat./Oct./5/1852, right side of lock: R.S. Lawrence pat. April 12, 1859. Metal markings are all very readable. Walnut stock with oil finish. Ser. #C17810.
Condition: Barrel, has light corrosion bbl. Bands and sight are brown-plum; Frame is mostly clean with only slight corrosion, case hardening mostly grey/silver/brown. Wood has the original cartouche under the saddle ring slide, some dents, and dings. Etc.Bore has some rifling and corrosion in the bore or chamber. Works fine mechanically. Is very good condition overall; original sharps civil war carbine.
