Description:
Based on .64 caliber shotgun barrel in 26 inch length, I am going to say its a first model rifle. All marking on frame correspond to desscription in Flayderman's book. And it has the earlier patent date on patch box door---- Sept.22,1845.The serial number of 902 in two places would also make it early.By now if you have looked at photos, you will realize its a bit of a project rifle and the price reflects that. Its almost all there exceptb the lower tang has a piece missing which mostly goes into the stock. A replacement piece has been made which fits the bottom of stock niely and needs to be brazed to original half. A spring for Maynard primer mechanism is gone. Two screws needed for side plate. A mainspring is needed .A knob base screw for resting ladder of tang sight. A couple of screws for stock needed. And thats aout it.The metal seems to have much darkish blue. On the lest side of frame are up and down marks  from a hack saw blade when someone cot off homemade screws.Did not hurt metal and can be touched up to diminish. The stock has a replacement piece added to forward part of right side near receiver.Easily improved upon. There are some marks top and bottom from wire to wrap stock when lower tang broken.A cloe up photo shows where 3 small nails remain from some thin metal emblem was attached. Any one know what it means?    SALE  PENDING
