Description:
S# 343119, .38-55, 23 inch octagon barrel, good bore with strong rifling and light pitting. This 1906 MFG rifle features correct sights, crescent buttplate and "Marlin Safety" receiver with the holes for a Hepburn receiver sight. Receiver, hammer, lever, butplate and forend cap are grey with some brown staining. Barrel and mag tube retain 30% blue in protected areas with remainder showing a brown patina. Barrel and mag tube have been cut, probably by an inch. Barrel is neatly done flat, mag tube is a little uneven. Wood has an interesting repair with an oval insert through wrist. Wood shows many small marks, a few larger scratches, and wears a little added oil. The bolt shows filed area at front end, frame has a couple dings by bolt hole. Forearm is missing a small 3/4 inch sliver at front of left side. Barrel is importer marked on lower left flat in front of forend cap. A good example in the most desirable caliber, this rifle could be used today. Barrel shows an import mark. FFL or C&R
