The small cloth drogue chute that would normally be housed in the tail section was not included in order to leave a clear view. In order to operate the grenade, the user first uncapped the end of the handle, pulled the cap to start the primer, then threw the grenade towards the target (the drogue would cause enough drag that it would, it was hoped, allow the grenade to land nose-first on the target, which would cause the shaped charge to cut through the relatively thin top armor of an enemy tank or other armored vehicle). The grenade is housed in its original gray painted storage crate with red stenciled lid, and also comes with copies of the relevant pages from “Handgranaten Wurf!” by Col. B.N. Schtandel; published in 1963. The text is in German, but the grenade is illustrated. This is a neat piece of Cold War memorabilia that is in very good-fine shape overall.
