Description:
#1964, Al Biesen Custom Rifle on a FN Mauser Action chambered to a 338/06 with a 22 1/2" barrel with no open sights, The FN Mauser action mounted with Conetrol 2 piece bases & rings, A 1.75 - 6 x 32 Leupold Vari-X3 scope, Model 70 style 2 position wing safety, Straddle hinged floorplate with center bow release, Two panel teardrop bolt knob checkering, A Tom Burgess style bolt handle (I have seen my share and I am positive it is Burgess); As a matter of fact, I think Tom Burgess did all the metal work on the entire action; Inside and out, it is the near perfect work of the metal master himself, Jeweled bolt body, Canjar trigger, Full wrap around checkering on both grip and forend with a semi fleur-de-lis type checkering, Ebony forend tip, Biesen 2 screw checkered steel grip cap, 13 9/16" L.O.P. over a Biesen checkered steel trapdoor buttplate, Shadowline cheekpiece, Sling eyes on the stock, 8 lbs. 6 oz. with the Leupold 1.75 x 6. The bottom of the forend has a nickel silver escutcheon with "W.L. Audas" engraved on it. I knew Mr. Audas well and he was a mighty fine gun crank that owned many fine custom rifles and English game guns. This gun remains in excellent condition and I would put it at a solid 95-96% with a bore as new. Mr. Al Biesen is the Norman Rockwell of custom bolt rifles in America and his merits are covered extensively in the pages of Jack O'Connor and the Gun Digest.
