Smith & Wesson .38 SA 1st Model "Baby Russian" Revolver - Cal. .38 S&W CF - 3 1/4" Bbl. - SN 141XX ( late 1876 - early 1877). Also known as Model NO. 2 - First Model. Bore is about excellent - bright with sharp rifling - shows a couple areas of mild roughness and spotting - action is excellent with perfect timing, lock-up, and ejection. Metal is excellent overall with 90% original factory nickel with scattered surface flaking on top strap, barrel in front of the cylinder, and in cylinder flutes - no rust, pits, or corrosion - hints of case color remain on the hammer. Hard rubber grips are excellent and undamaged with crisp checkering and logo and show no wear at all. The early S&W .38 was a popular pocket revolver in the early West and often carried as a back-up revolver. A super sharp, fully functional, all original early "Baby Russian" in my Fine + to Excellent overall condition that will make a great addition to an early S&W or Old West collection.
