CARBINE. Original very late Model 1879 serial numbered in the transitional 277,xxx range having features of both the Model 1879 and the Model 1884. Has the M1879 rear Carbine sight and the Model 1884 serrated trigger. M1879 breechblock with correct “1873” date. Very good overall with minor blue mixed with dark patina. Stock with old repaired hairline crack at the wrist. Circled “P” proof to the rear of the trigger guard tang. Cartouche stamped on the left wrist has been refreshed and the stock has been refinished. Working order and dark bore with moderate pitting. Should clean up much better. Nice Geronimo era Apache Wars serial range with old post WW2 collection provenance. SOLD Antique: Yes |
