Brun Latrige Cal. 5mm. 3rd. Mdl. Self Loading Repeating Pistol NSN. This rather unusual looking pistol was patented in France in 1860 but was not put into production until 1890. It functions by squeezing the front grip. Some models had ring triggers or folding levers to bring the barrel back over a pre-loaded fixed magazine. When the barrel assembly is fully reward the sear will release a striker and fire the cartridge. The forward motion of the trigger or lever device will expel the spent cartridge. This engraved deluxe example is in super condition, except for a few surface scratches scattered light flaking and some pin pricks gathered over the last 120+ years. There is at least 98+% of the nickel finish remaining. The factory engraving is on both side panels and the the top of the gun. This particular model has a safety lever on the left front of the barrel to prevent the compression of the firing assembly. The blued parts are also 99+%.
