This is a 1916 dated pistol which has matching numbers on the frame and slide. The metal retains 85-90% of the original bluing that has silvering and developed some further gray fading along the edges and projections. The Austrian military proof is still clear on the right side of the trigger guard and traces of the original straw color remain on the otherwise bright gray hammer, safety, trigger, and slide latch. The checkered walnut grips are in very good shape with some scattered minor handling marks and some light flattening of the points, mostly on the top of the right panel. The pistol is accompanied by a September 23, 1945 dated U.S. War Trophy Certificate made out to Tech-4 Bruce E. Morse that mentions this pistol by serial number and is signed by Capt. John E. Gibbons (Combat Engineers). Also included is a US Customs Declaration, dated September 24, 1945, and made out to Tech Morse. This is a fine, mechanically excellent pistol overall that comes with great accessories. This is a nice example of a Steyr Model 1911 and comes with great World War II souvenir documents.
