Description:
Stock is marked 8 NY 143 above the butt plate.  These rifles were converted from 1889-1893 to this variant, the last of the trapdoors.  The integral ram-rod bayonet was upgraded on this model with more effective cannelures for more secure locking when the bayonet was extended    Samuel W Porter inspector cartouche, 1882.  This rifle is very clean overall with a beautiful bore and clean stock!
