The colloquial term "Jungle Carbine" was never officially aplied by the British Armed forces, but this rifle was informally referred to as the "Jungle Carbine" by British and Commonwealth troops during WWII and the Malayan Emergency. Many changes were made to this No. 5 to lighten it from the No. 4 it was patterned after.
