Description:
SOLD / On Hold S&W U.S. M13 Lightweight "Crushed" Double Action Revolver, manufactured by Smith & Wesson, serial # C 291222, cal. 38 Special, 2” barrel with a lightly oxidized and crushed bore. On September 21, 1959 the U.S. Air Force issued a directive to destroy all M13 revolvers as they consider them unsafe and all but a few suffered the same fate as this gun.  The destruction was accomplished by crushing the barrel and the cylinder. This four screw revolver has the standard S&W markings on the barrel and frame in addition to “Revolver, Lightweight, M13” on the left side of the topstrap and “Property of U.S. Air Force on the backstrap.  This revolver retains about 96% of its finish exhibiting light handling and holster wear before it met its fate at the hands of the crusher. Light oxidation blemishes are present on the hammer and trigger. The diamond checkered walnut grips are not numbered to this gun but remain in very good condition. This revolver still appears to function although the barrel and cylinder are crushed and I believe that a competent gunsmith could restore this revolver.  Note: this gun is being sold as a "Parts Gun (FOR DISPLAY ONLY) No Returns" and under no circumstances is it to be shot. Inv.: # 1-1239
