A New & Exceptionally Rare Royal Presentation Extra Finish Self-Opening Pinless Sidelock Ejector 28 Bore Round Action Shotgun. Built on a miniature scaled frame. Delivered ca 1998. Weight: 5 lbs. 5 ozs. Stock dimensions: 1 5/8 x 2 1/4 x 15 1/4” x 1/16 cast off. Beautifully struck 28” side by side chopperlump steel barrels with a smooth concave rib and one standing platinum bead, fixed factory chokes are light modified and improved modified, and 2 3/4” chambers. Exhibition grade Circassian walnut straight grip stock to a matching petite splinter forend. Single non selective gold washed trigger assembly. Stunning and exceedingly complicated royal clover Acanthus scroll with bank note vignettes of the infamous Blue Quail by famed master engraving artist Simon Coggan. Close examination of the engraving reveals an incomprehensible level of detail and precision. All internal action parts are gold washed and including the forend hardware and locks. The whole is cased in special polished oak and Elephant hide by Vince Rickards. Interior is lined with very fine black suede with oak partitions, leather gold embossed maker label for the lid, and contains a host of factory accessories all in 24k gold and horn. It should be noted that this Royal presentation case is a £21,000.00 up-charge from the maker. This is a museum quality exhibition showpiece, worthy as a center piece to most any fine collection. Pictured and explained in numerous publications such as the Double Gun Journal, English Best Guns and Purdey’s. This is one of the finest smooth bores to exit Purdey’s in their 214 year history.
