Description:
Serial #11500, .303 British, 17” barrel with a dark, pitted bore. This is an Australian stamped (“D/Broad Arrow”) action, most likely manufactured by Lithgow, with mounted Lithgow-made barrel, magazine, and buttstock, and has been extensively cut-away in order to reveal the inner workings of the rifle. The metal has 85-90% of the original blued finish with a gray band on the barrel where the rear sight base used to be, and further gray fading along the sides of the barrel and on the exposed edges and surfaces. The exposed mechanisms have protective grease covering them and are fully functional. The buttstock and receiver ring have an identical “3MD” marking, and the wood has some minor handling marks in the otherwise fine military oil finish. These skeleton/cut-away training actions are not common at all, and Australian marked examples are very rare. This one is in very good condition and would make a great addition to any collection.
