Description:
Serial #7993, 8 x 58R Krag, 33” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is an 1891 dated, Copenhagen marked rifle that has all matching numbered parts. The metal retains about 25-30% of the original blue on the receiver and muzzle-end of the barrel jacket, but the balance has faded and blended smoothly and evenly into a mellow gray patina that continues onto the bolt. The walnut stock and handguard have been refinished to fine shape with a nice, re-applied military oil finish over light handling marks, and a series of light impacts at the toe of the butt. The Model 1889 Krag-Jorgensen is one of the scarcest. These are rather uncommon long guns no matter the variant, and this example is in very good plus-near fine condition overall. Antique
