Description:
This is an original "USMC" marked Ka-Bar which measures 12 1/8" overall with a 7" single - edged, clip - point blade marked "U.S.M.C." on the ricasso obverse and "KA-BAR/OLEAN, N.Y." opposite. The blade itself has a dark plum-brown patina with some even, mild surface surface pitting along both sides; heaviest along the edges and within the fullers. The sheet metal guard has been user-modified to an "S" shape and the leather washer grip has minor handling marks and blemishes on most of the surface but does have an additional area of moderate abrasion/surface damage on the obverse where it meets the guard. The original steel disk-shaped pommel with minor freckling is in excellent condition. The knife is housed in a heavily worn and dried original brown leather sheath that has numerous small cracks and flaking. The sheath has incised decorations on both sides: "(delta) T (delta)"; and a U.S.M.C. enlisted eagle, globe, and anchor cap device is affixed to the tip. This is a great looking example of a well-used World War II Marine Ka-Bar.
