Description:
SOLD...Antique 1889 Marlin. 32-20 round barrel witha minty mirror bright bore. Here is a well above average 1889 Marlin. 32-20 caliber. Has the standard 24" round barrel. S/N 96132 and made in 1894. The bore is minty with mirror bright shine. NO frosting or roughness anywhere. Very hard to find any antique rifle let alone a 32-20 with such a minty bore. The mechanics are excellent as well. This gun shoots like a target rifle period !!!! Feeds, fires and ejects flawlessly. Has a tang sight that is still tight as new, a two leaf rear sight and the front sight has a brass bead. {see photos}... Do not know if these sight are a special order original to the gun but look like they have all been on this gun forever. The markinga are all excellent as well. The metal is real nice with the barrel having bout 30% blue that is still blue in color and the balance is fading and mixing blue plum patina. The receiver also has nice traces of blue remaining. The balance of the metal is a medium plum brown patina. There is some small spots of some very minor surface crud on the right side of the barrel towards the muzzle end and a little on the right side of the receiver. NO pitting on the gun anywhere. Never cleaned on or messed with and just the way you love to find these guns..One burred up screw on the right side of the receiver also as you can see in the photo. The wood is excellent as well also. The forearm has most all the original varnish. Has a little darkening by the receiver but notrhing bad or detracting. NO splits or cracks but just some very minor scratches and scuf fmarks from honest use. Fits tight and prowd like new to the metal all around. The butt stock is excellent with most all the varnish and a little darkening around the tangs and the receiver. Some darkness on the bottom toe area also.. NO splits or cracks and It fits tight and prowd to the metal also. This is a very nice 89 Marlin and I know it is not in the larger calibers that are more popular BUT it has a mint bore and some metal finish with great looking wood. Also the sight s are probably special order. You just do not see these come up for sale everyday for sure. If you have been looking for a collector / shooter in 32-20 and are sick and tired of finding nothing but stove pipe bores, then look no further my friends. Here it is !!!! Call me at 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured double boxed shipping. Call me fast as this one is a keeper and the price reflects the bore and over all condition. Much better than the $800 to $1000 brown guns you see.
