About Us: Joe Salter has been in the Antique and Collector Weapons business for 60 years as both a collector and dealer. Description:
This is a gray fur wedge cap (approximately size 7 1/4) with a Montreal maker's label inside the crown (Jay Wolfe Inc.). The gray/black fur on the crown is in fine condition with some age-browning of the hairs near the ends. The cap has a scarlet “bag" on the right side (denoting artillery), fastened by a conical metal coil button. The interior of the cap has a quilted gray satin lining and the fold-down earflaps are still in place. Previous owners have written their names inside (“F.R. Walton" and “A.R. Keefe"). Included with the cap is a formal group photograph showing cadets of the Royal Military College (Kingston, Ontario) wearing their wedge caps. The photo is housed in a 21" x 9 1/2" frame and is an interesting addition that places the cap in context.
