Description:
This is a nicely made, private purchase cap (size 6 7/8) by W. Stone of 20 Old Compton St., Soho, London, that has a bright scarlet felt crown with matching piping and band, along with a gilt 6th Hussars badge at the front. The thin black chinstrap is crazed, but intact, and affixed with unmarked buttons, while the black patent leather peak (slightly detached at the left corner) has a wide embroidered bullion officer's band running along the edge. The peak has retained its shape but does have some minor heat damage and scoring along the top surface. The interior has a soft leather lining with embossed markings and a wide leather comfort band. The cloth has some minor staining from long storage, and has a slight forward tilt to the crown disk, but the crown stiffeners are still in place and the cap rates very good plus overall. This is a handsome cap and would make a nice display piece.
