Description:
For sale is a Auguste Chapu double barrel shotgun with 29 inch barrels. The gun was made in Paris and has all the makings of best quality gun. Beautiful engraving, articulated front trigger, third fastener, etc. It is a sideplated ejector boxlock. Number 2 or a pair. The barrels were made in England but the gun is proffed in Paris. It ballances wonderfully. The gun is what I would call a shooter. Barrels are in good shotable condition but there are some blemishes on the outside (see photos). The wood is very nice with handling marks but stock is short and has a pad (see photos). The forend is missing some type of inlay (see photos). I have shoot the gun many times and limited out on doves in Nebraska a couple of years ago with it. It is a very responsive gun that handles like a dream. However, I tried to put chamber sleeves in it last year and they didn't fit. Unfortunately, I pushed a little too hard and the small metal lip on the tip of the barrels that operates the extractors broke off. Although the shotshells still eject after fired when the barrels are fired they do not extract. Hense the price. Should be a relatively easy fix for a compitent gunsmith.
