Colt U.S. Army 1911, Caliber .45 ACP, Serial Number 2242XX, 1918 production.
Awesome Estate gun. From WW I "The Great War to End All Wars". An outstanding condition gun that is on it's 97th birthday. It is easily a 96-97% Colt's "Brushed Blue" finish. The only loss appears to be from some slight holster wear, little sharp edge silvering, and a few light surface nicks. There are no rust or pin pricks anywhere. The first 7 serrations on the left side do have a surface dent. The grip straps other than a very mall rub mark show no graying. The hammer, safety lock tab, grip safety, spring housing and pin, trigger release lock, recoil spring guide, front and rear sight are 100% correct for this serial range. The barrel has the proper HP stamp. The frame is marked below the takedown lever Circle GHS. Like everything else is 100% correct. The grips are the proper double diamond type with 15 points between the diamonds. The grip screws are great with only one showing the just very slightest bit of marring. The bolt face and feed ramp are exceptionally clean showing little if any use. The bore of this correct barrel is fabulous. The rifling is razor sharp, mirror bright and shows almost no sign of use. The gun comes with one correct two tone magazine with a 4 pin base pate. This attic queen is a "RIGHT" Gun, I promise.
