A lot of people use the word "rare" indiscriminately. COLT COLLECTORS please note - it took me 4 months of research to figure this gun out. The word RARE is an understatement. This gun has never been catalogued or listed by Colt or anybody else in any literature that I have found. My friend, Cam, in Tennessee & the late Lynn Guvam were the only two people who knew a thing about this gun. There are thousands of them in .32 cal & several hundred target versions in .22 cal but this is a fixed sight .22 LR Service Model. In 1919, Colt made several of these for the London Police but those guns when they are found, have London proof marks. I am of the opinion that this gun & the other 7 like it, that are known to exist, were overruns of that batch & just sold off to the Central & South American states. This gun has a letter from Colt stating that it was one of 150 sold to Gonzales Y Marina with no address given. Sounds like Central America, Mexico or South America - I have not been able to find out. So this is, without question, one of the rarest Colt double action revolvers ever made. About 85% condition, perfect bore & grips but you could hunt for 50 years & never find another. Please call if you have any questions Frank Bird (951) 658 - 9386.
