Description:
Fusil Robust / Manufrance Side by Side, 16 Gage Double Barrel,
Beautiful French Double Barrel Shotgun - A Quality Investment Grade Gun

-- Manufactured in Saint Etteine France.  Manufacturer marked is Robust (Fusil Robust).  Also has the Markings MF for Manufrance in a Circle on the Guns Action.  It is a 16 gage side by side, with a Mark under Robust Logo on the bottom of the guns action of ROBUST Model No. 2 - I believe.
-- I am new to this so please bear with me, I bought this gun from my Uncle ---( when I was 12 years old ).  I bought it from my Uncle Jim, This gun was hunted with by my uncle prior to my receiving it, so any marks were from my uncle who used it for what it was intended, hunting and clay birds.  You will see some what seems to be old repairs on bottom of stock, you will see a hole there as well which was for a sling mount.  I used it for my 1st hunting shotgun.  Shortly after my purchase I was not thrilled about taking such a nice gun hunting, so I bought a pump action shotgun. This gun then was put in its case and only pulled out to clean it, or for an occassional trip to the gun club to shoot clay birds.
I am now 52 yrs old now.  I recently was burglarized while not at home in which they stold my guns ... fortunately not this one because it was at my parents at the time.  They busted open my gun (cabinet) which was steel but they hammered the gate hing off its welds, with sledge and chiseled getting 3 guns. One being my fathers gun he had given to me before passing away.  Of course I was sick about all of them but that hurt the worst.  Police showed up didn't bother to dust.. They said it was professionals and said they would have used gloves.  But as professionals they kicked my door in and left sneaker prints on the door. They said I watch too much CSI.
I managed through my own detective work going to gunshops and local pawn shops and calling outside of the area to shops...to identify them.  After finger the perpetrators, 4 young men where caught (real Pros, ha).  I managed to recover the guns they stole. I do not feel comfortable keeping all of them  at home anymore, I would like to sell some off, so they get into hands of sportsman or collectors instead of the hands of criminals.  That the reason I am selling this gun, and I could use the money as well.
The barrels are like mirrors inside with nothing visible as far as marks.  Bluing is in pretty darn good shape as well, you will see some heat discoloration around action area which is common.   I tried to get markings all pictured for you.  The stock I will try  to get some extra close pics of that if you like.  There are some spots  ont the bottom of the stock which had a few gouges it looks like where he had put some putty in that are darker than the wood it self. I am just guessing this, being its on the bottom it never bothered me much and adds character.
I was considering maybe restoring the stock on this gun because, its beautiful has some vertical (tiger stripes) depending how the light hits it.  The walnut is very rich looking, I was considering restoration but, some fellows I spoke with mentioned that it would not be a good idea to mess with it, because it's authentic the way it is.  All it needs is a good rub down with oil and just looks beautiful.  The butt plate is metal with a white composite material under it, I believe this is original from others I have seen.  I checked numbers match on all pieces and it is ALL Original per numbers.  Contact me for any additional information.  It's not perfect but very pretty and excellent for bird hunting or clay bird shooting.  Light weight & beautifully balanced!  Additional Pics on request... Thanks for Considering this great vintage gun!     I will consider very close offers only.
To answer recent questions... The shell section of the barrel is 2 7/8" from back insertion point to point where the barrel starts.  The barrel itself I mesured from where shell compartment ends to front of the barrel is exactly 25 inches long.  Both barrels have a marking of 17.0 on them, one says Demi Choke and One Says Modified Choke.  Marked Saint Eteinne, France and MF in a Circle.   I am not sure of drop and how to measure that?   I have additional photos for more details for anyone who wants them.
The weight is very light around 6.6 lbs and perfectly balanced for hunting and trap shooting.  The gun has beautiful character and very highly crafted from a famous area of France known for quality fire arms commanding high prices, and sought after by collectors.  I hope I can find a person who appreciates the quality and beauty of this gun and respects a well made fire arm to pass along to family.  Collector, Investor Quality.

There was a request for the:
----  DAC or ( Drop at Comb) --- is barely under 1 1/2"
                                    ----  DAH or ( Drop at Heal) ----- is  2 5/16"

Happy to Answer Any Questions, Thank You,  Mike
