Antique: Yes
Manufacturer: 1870's.
Caliber Info: 8 gauge.
Chambers: Black powder percussion.
Metal Condition: Long upper tang, Dolphin hammer, 5 side-plate pins, "N. N. Wilmot" inscribed on the side plate with remnants of case coloring, a long lower tang, and a decorative floral plate in front of the trigger guard.
Wood Condition: Sometime in its 155 year history the fore end was cracked, then repaired. Though the cracks are still visible this 8 gauge has been fired recently with no effect from the repairs.
Bore Condition: For its 155 years the bore is in extremely good condition.
Barrels: 34.5" laminated twist steel barrel with a solid rib and ram rod support with two ram rod guides.
Triggers: Smooth surface pull trigger.
Stock: Straight-hand stock of dark walnut with extended grip checkering, brass receiver screw, fore end knock-out pin, brass fore end cap, and ram rod guides.
Stock Dimensions:
LOP: 13 3/4".
Fore End: Checkered fore end with decorative, brass inserts.
Butt Pad: Steel shotgun butt plate.
Sights: Brass front bead.
Chokes: Diameter of the bore is .849" with a .029" jugged choke.
Extras: The full-length ram rod has a brass head for tamping and a head on the opposite end, for bore cleaning. The steel ram rod support under the barrel has a notch at its tip, for the ram rod brass tamping head to snap on for storage. Ram rod looks original. T
