This CMP gun is a totally proper post war Springfield M1. The gun retains about 85-90% 0f the original Parkerizing. The bulk of the loss appears to be on the stock bands some surface thinning and sharp edge silvering. There are no pits or rust anywhere. The wood has about 45-50% of the original lacquer with several small surface dings and scratches. Most of which can be steamed out. There are no splits or cracks however. The pistol grip is Circle P proofed, there is an additional P roof below. Careful examination of the rifle has shown us that this gun has been arsenal glass bedded at the trigger group for better accuracy and tighter lockup. The left side has the correct Square, 3 Star/ Eagle, DOD Stamp. The barrel is dated SA 3.55. The bore is super bright with sharp rifling and no real trace of graying. The muzzle measures 2+ and the throat a 3 which is just super. The guns comes complete with the original CMP case, Certificate of Authenticity, and barrel measurements tag. This gun should be great on the range. No Buyer's remorse on this one.
