Description:
This is a J.P. Lower marked from the Old West! This isn't the super heavy bbl but very stout with almost 1" at the muzzle and tapered to over 1" at the frame. Gun weighs in at 11-1/2 pounds. Bbl is 30". Cal 45 2-1/10" (45-70). Bbl markings are "Old Reliable" and "Sharps Rifle Co". The J.P. Lower marking is underneath a long old gunsmith made rear sight. Rocky Mtn blade front sight. A very good looking rifle with an even aged look to the metal. The forearm is very nice with some old dings and mars but is intact. A lot of the forearms on these heavy bbl guns were cracked or broken. The buttstock is in fair cond but not quite as good as the forearm. There are a few repairs done and a couple of slivers missing by lower tang. Some letters have been scratched into it. On the left side is an imbedded star which ligns up with the brass head bolt on the right side. Bore is VG with good rifling right down to the chamber. Bright and shiny. A good cleaning may reveal some light pits and light roughness but overall the bore would be VG to VG+. Gun also has a working set trigger. Everyone wants a Sharps Buffalo gun. This one was there and did that!
