Description:
TAKE A STEP BACK IN TIME with this Ithaca (NIG) 12-gauge hammergun.  How many things made in America over a hundred years ago can still be used today just as effectively for their original purpose?   The gun shoots well on the skeet range, but better yet imagine yourself hunting upland game over your dog the same way our grandfathers did.

Manufactured in 1901, this American classic is properly restored to bring it back to a condition similar to what it would have been after a couple years of use by the original owner.  The color case hardening, which was redone by Flat Creek Gunworks in Fort Collins, CO, is brilliant.  The wood is beautiful, the bores bright, and the exterior of the barrels flawless as refinished.

This shotgun has 28” twist steel barrels choked Skeet (.005) and Skeet (.005) with 2-3/4” chambers.  The wall thickness (top/side/bottom) for the right barrel at 9” from muzzle is .041/.041/.044 and at the middle of the barrel is .038/.042/.045; the left barrel is .047/.041/.037 and .048/.040/.038, respectively.  Bores 9” from the breech are .720/.720, respectively and the outside diameters at the muzzle are .801 and .805.  The gun weighs 7 lb 13 oz.  The drop at the comb is 1-7/8” and at the heel 3”.  Length of pull from the front trigger to the end of the original hard rubber butt plate, which is worn but serviceable, is 14”.  The stock is cast off 1/8 inch.  The gun locks up tight and on face.  All serial numbers, 68,078, match.

The price does not include shipping costs paid by buyer.  The inspection period is 7 days from receipt.  This shotgun has been fired using low pressure shells produced by RST Corporation for Damascus barreled shotguns.  However, as for any antique or vintage shotgun, and especially one a hundred and fifteen years old, it is recommended that the new owner have it inspected by a professional gunsmith before firing and then only use shells that produce pressures for which the gun was designed.  The gun carries a 30-day warrantee, during which we will have any mechanical problems documented by a professional gunsmith repaired or accept the return of the gun and refund the price of the gun and the return shipping cost.  Please do not hesitate to call with questions Stephen Wesbrook, 703-625-4830; Back in Time, LLC  --  preserving late 19th and early 20th century double shotguns.
