Description:
This is a very nice looking desirable Civil War Sharps Model 1859 Carbine with the iron patchbox. This one has matching serial numbers of 59,098 which would put it in the Civil War production time. The barrel and lock have a nice smooth dark gray patina and you can clearly read the Sharps patent marks on the front and backside of the frame and New Model 1859 stamped on the barrel. The action is strong and works well on all positions. The barrel is full length with the original front and rear sights intact. The inside of the barrel still retains a nice amount of the bore with each land and groove being visible. On the back of the frame it has saddle bar and ring. The stock of the gun is solid and in nice shape, no major cracks or repairs. the iron patchbox is in great shape and opens and closes as it should.. The initials DHT, possibly that of a soldier have been carved in the stock. This great Civil War collectable is priced to sell and it is worth much more, then what I'm asking.
