Description:
This Historical Civil War Spencer Carbine is a rare find. It is listed in the Springfield Research Service Serial numbers of U.S. Martial Arms, Volume 4. Serial number 29,909 It was issued to a soldier assigned to Company E, 19th Regiment New York Volunteer Cavalry. The 19th Cavalry was officially re-designated  on September 10,1863 as the 1st Regiment New York Dragoons. During its service, the 1st New York Dragoons fought in 64 battles, captured 19 pieces of artillery and four Confederate battle flags. The following are some of the battles fought by this calvary, Battle of Cold Harbor, one of American history's bloodiest, most lopsided battles. Thousands of Union soldiers were killed or wounded in a hopeless frontal assault against the fortified positions of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's army. Battle of Trevilian Station, Battle of Opequon, Battle of Cedar Creek, Battle of Waynesboro,Virginia, Battle of Five Forks and the Battle of Appomattox Court House The Carbine is in nice shape after surviving the war. The Spencer patent date stamping on top of the breech has worn off, however the serial number is clearly visible. The wood has a nice finish with no major cracks or repairs. Looks like it might have been redone, but looks great. The metal has turned a dark smooth patina, very little pitting. The action is strong both in half and full cock. Bore is clean and has nice rifling. Original rear, front sight, saddlebar and ring. Original magazine tube functions nicely. ID' d Civil War Spencer carbines are hard to find and make a great Historical collectable. Like all my listings, it is priced to sell and worth much more than what it is listed for.  Shipping is $35.00 Tracking number is provided.
