Description:
SOLD...Antique Smith & Wesson .38 caliber SA 2nd model. Here is a very nice S&W 2nd model single action. In . 38 caliber black powder . Has the standard 3 1/4" barrel. The mechanics are excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun. NO play anywhere. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and the hinge. They don't get any tighter than this one. S/N 50319 and matching throughout of course. The barrel has about 80% original nickel finish with a spot on the right side that has flaked and has been lightly cleaned and has some very minor pitting. Barely into the metal as you can see. The cylinder is excellent condition with 99% remaining. The frame has 90% remaining including the front and rear grip straps. The left side of the fame shows  an area of some very minor flaking but NO pitting. The worst spot is on the right side of the barrel. Barrel latch still shows 99% bright blue as does the trigger but the trigger has faded a bit and not as bright as the latch. The hammer still shows some nice vivid case colors as well. {see photo}.. The grips are excellent and show all their fine luster and checkering with a perfect factory fit. They show NO wear at all. Very nice grips on this one. All the screws are sharp and never messed with but the main spring tension screw shows a little burring but still very serviceable. Untouch front sight never messed with. The bore is near excellent with a couple spots of roughness from black powder and the chambers are clean with no roughness. All the markings are excellent as well. This is a very nice little Smith & Wesson and if not for the area on the barrel would be priced a couple hundred dollars more but it is what it is. Still would make an excellent shooter with proper black powder loads and is still quite collectibles. $15 insured priority shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.
