Description:
J. STEVENS MODEL 418 JUNIOR TARGET WALNUT HILL RIFLE IN RARE .22WRF CALIBER. Serial number "4XX" circa 1933-39. 26 inch #4(so marked with 4 in circle) heavy contour barrel with mint rifling. Rear Lyman adjustable peep tang sight and dove tailed front blade. Original sling swivels. Four tap holes on top of barrel for bases factory(with tap screws). Almost all original blue on barrel and receiver and lever case colors just beginning to fade but visible. Balance on underside. Original finish on wood with no losses. Very little use with not much carry wear at all for one of these. Factory beavertail forend with lead added on inside(tastefully) for balance. Excellent screws. Crisp trigger like the day it was made and tight lock-up with no play in lever. Rare .22wrf caliber offered in this model. Built on the 1915 Favorite frame and therefore the "Junior" term refers to the Walnut Hill 417 Junior version which this is. 7 1/4 pounds. Barrel factory struck "22-W.R.F." on left side and two line "J. Stevens Arms Company" on right. Factory steel buttplate. Prime example and would probably be a tack driver as well.
