Description:
This was custom built for a 75 year old gentleman 20 years ago. He could never bring himself to fire it or take it afield. Built on an 03 action. I just found out that this rifle was built by Sam Knox out of Denver. He purchased the 7x57 barrel from Mark Chanlyn who is famous for his cut rifled barrels. He has made barrels for benchrest and the US Olympic shooting team. Gorgeous wood. Fine hand cut wrap checkering with Fleur de lis designs. 22 inch featherweight barrel. Steel checkered buttplate and grip cap. Timney trigger breaks like glass. Custom bottom metal is a hinged floorplate. Bolt is checkered. 3 position wing safety like a model 70. Action is honed to perfection and super smooth. Barrel marked 7x57. Rifle weighs 6 lbs with Warne bases and rings which are included. This rifle comes up like a fine shotgun. Serial number on action is 982206 with clear US marking also. Ebony or Rose wood tip. Cant tell for sure. Front lug, rear lug, are bedded on action and both on the floorplate lugs also. Barrel free floated. A few small handling marks in the wood but thats it.I was very tempted to keep this rifle. Beautiful custom sporter in a classic caliber that is waiting for someone to take it home. The workmanship on this rifle is superb. Lots of pics. You know what it would cost to have this made today and it would be more than double what I have this priced at. Shipping is $35 to lower 48. Make sure your ffl will accept from non ffl holder.
