Description:
#3733 U.S. Colt Single Action Army 45 Colt, Henry Nettleton Inspected
This is a neat U.S. Colt single action army 45 that was Sub Inspected by Henry Nettleton. The grip cartouche on the right side is Henry Nettleton and the left side is Capt. John E. Greer 1878. Both cartouches are sharp and clear. H.N. is stamped on the cylinder, hammer, bottom grip, frame, trigger guard, barrel and top of the back strap below the hammer. Below the ejector mounting stud is C with G below it. All of the numbers are matching 48401 and are on the barrel, cylinder, frame, trigger guard and back strap. The mechanical function is excellent crisp and tight. The chambers and bore are excellent, bright and shinny with strong rifling. The frame and hammer retain 35-40% case colors. All of the markings are sharp and crisp. Even the broken die for the PT on the barrel address shows the right side of the T missing. The barrel was cut down to 5 ½” and the replacement front site is set close to the muzzle. Nice blue is under the ejector housing and in protected areas. The grips have not been sanded. There is also a P and T on the rear of the cylinder, on the side of the cylinder and a P above H.N. on the barrel. It also has a bullseye ejector head. I have requested a Colt Factory Letter and this Colt is one of a shipment of 150 revolver’s delivered to the U.S. Government Inspector at the Colt Plant July, 1878.
I would consider trades for pre 1899 ANTIQUE PISTOLS and rifles on any of my items.. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO TRADE? Ask about our 30-90 day lay-away program. We accept Bank Check, Money order, Personal checks or wire transfer.
