Description:
Connecticut Arms and Manufacturing Co. - Hammond Patent SS "Bulldog" Pistol - Cal. 44 RF - 4" Bbl. - SN 5599 (mid 1880s). Bore is near perfect with sharp rifling and only a couple of very minor spots. Action is excellent with perfect mechanics, extraction, and ejection. Metal is excellent overall - barrel retains 90% blue with some light oxidation in spots - frame shows a general gray patina with darkened case colors. Grips are excellent and undamaged with sharp checkering and 98% finish. Although these "Bulldogs" were made for over 20 years, only about 8000 were produced. They were a very popular "deringer" style pistol in the early West due to the .44 caliber and were favored by gamblers as a big bore pocket pistol. This "Bulldog" is all original and unaltered and in EXCELLENT or better condition - a very hard to find early single shot, especially in high condition.
