The rifle was still in the original wooden crate that it was shipped in from Marlin Firearms, and my dad happened upon it one day while selling groceries and feed to the store. He had dropped his pen and when he bent over to get it, he saw the wooden crate under the store counter. The owner of the store sold it to my dad that day.” This high condition case colored 1893 rifle has an about VG bore with sharp rifling and some roughness throughout. Cal 32-40. The 26” Oct bbl and full length mag tube retain 98+% original blue with very little scattered light freckling. Receiver, hammer and lever show most case colors 90-95% vivid . About 75% thinning blue on the S shaped steel butt plate. The stocks show just a few handling marks with light wear and most original finish. The original wooden crate is marked from Marlin Firearms Co. To an outfit in Moreland Ark. Attached is a Adams Express weigh bill, and a Marlin Firearms Co. Certificate declaring the contents as described accurately and in proper condition for transportation. The inside has been lined with red felt and the outside has had a coat of shellac applied to preserve it. Some leather straps were put on as hinges and latches for the top cover. This very well may be the only remaining Marlin 1893 rifle in its original shipping crate! Also includes 4 boxes of Winchester 32-40 cartridges and a Winchester Loading tool and mold set.
