Description:
SOLD...Antique boxed Smith & Wesson. .32 DA. Here is a very near mint Antique Smith & Wesson with original box. This gun as you can see is very near mint condition throughout...  It literally retains 99% original nickel finish. Just missing a very small amount of finish at the very end of the muzzle that is hardly noticeable and one small flake in one of the cylinder flutes.  Would be a very difficult gun to improve on. It is in the very early 4th model antique S/N range and the S/N is 80676 and matching throughout of course. No number on the barrel latch as I have seen before on these models. Most are numbered but some are not. The S/N range for the 4th model is 43406 to 282999 and made from 1883 to 1909 so it is a very early 4th model probably made in 1884 or 1885 at the latest... The mechanics are excellent. Tight and crisp as a new gun period !!!! Both hammer safety and full cock notches are excellent... It works flawlessly in DA and SA mode. Rock solid barrel to frame fit. This gun is as tight as the day it was made.  All the markings are excellent. The grips are excellent with no cracks or chips and a perfect factory fit. They show all the factory luster and fine checkering with no wear.. The trigger guard has about 90% blue and shows a little thinning on the bottom from very little carry wear. The barrel latch has 99% blue. The trigger case colors have faded to silver.. The hammer has 100% bright and vivid case colors. All the screws are sharp and show no burring from tinkering with a hardware screw driver. Untouched front sight. The bore is bright with a couple pin prick spots of roughness. The chambers are excellent. As I say, a very hard gun to improve on. The box is in near excellent condition as well. Does show reinforcment  tape in the corners inside. {see photo}. The hinge is perfect and not torn. Shows very minor corner wear on the outside. Very nice directions for use lable inside. Nice orange end lable that shows some wear. All in all a top notch little S&W for the collector that wants about the best money can buy. Very hard to find guns in this condition made in the early to mid 1880's.. Not saying there is not one out there that is mint and un fired, but you might spend a few years finding it and you won't buy it for this price I am sure. This one would be the center of a S&W collection of small pocket revolvers. I should be keeping it for myself but I just can't keep'em all !!! $20 insured shipping.
