#2476 Jacob Gill flintlock sash or belt pistol, 5”x70cal (approx) with captive rammer beneath the full octagonal barrel.Iron furniture with modest engraving, rounded butt with no cap. No foreign proofings, so the likihood and appearance is that this fine huge bore flint is early American. Probably made in the 1820s, as Jacob Gill was a gunsmith making guns between 1819-1831 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His relative, Benjamin Gill, continued making guns in Lancaster well into the 1850s. Being as this gun is marked “Gill’s” with an apostrophe and “s” after the name, would indicate it was made when both men were operating. It also has a huge bullet mold to go with it (a nice display accessory) at no extra charge, of course. Ex.Fine. $1245
