Description:
NSN, .52 Caliber, 21" barrel with a very good, lightly freckled, rifled bore. This is a handsome example with a dark chocolate-brown patina along the barrel which mixes with spots of gray on the tilting breech piece. The original markings on the breech are no longer visible, save for the "C" in "CONN.", and there are traces of the original blue just visible along the side opening lever. The walnut stock has a fairly thick added varnish over numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes with still visible cartouches on the sides just ahead of the wrist and a carved marking on the right side of the butt which is difficult to make out; possibly, "11/5 N I (?)". The breech lifting mechanism is tight and fully functional as is the action itself. The carbine comes with an original metal ramrod and is in very good plus-near fine condition overall. Antique
