Description:
This is a standard military “Tommy" helmet (marked “G.S.W./D.P.&H.": General Steel Wares – Department of Pensions & Health) but has been painted police blue with a white “HPD" stencil on the front of the crown for what was then the Halifax Police Department (now the Halifax Regional Police). The helmet retains 92-95% of its original blue paint with some scattered flaking as well as small handling marks and minor surface blemishes throughout. There are also some minor scuffs on the front of the crown across the “P" and “D". The size 7 1/8 interior is somewhat stiff and missing the rivets on three of the four spars, but the elastic chinstrap is still flexible and serviceable. This is a neat piece of World War II police memorabilia and would make a fine addition to a collection.
