*** Sold Pending Funds *** For sale is a Winchester Model 1873 Transition First Model Deluxe Rifle. This rifle features a 24-inch octagon barrel that is chambered in 44-40. It has a factory checkered 2X grade walnut stock & forend, crescent buttplate, set trigger, and casehardened receiver. The casehardening is still visible and the bluing on the barrel & magazine tube is even with slight wear on the end of the barrel and magazine tube. Rifling is present throughout the bore with minor pitting in the grooves. The lower tang is marked 2X and the assembly number matches on the buttstock & buttplate. The rifle has a second model lever and pinned trigger which is correct according to the James Gordon book " A Tribute to the 1873". According to the Gordon book, these transition rifles started in the 27,000 serial number range. The serial number for this rifle is 28033 and it will be accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter.
