Description:
Civil War Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver - 4-Screw - US - Cal. .44 - 8" Bbl. - SN 29289 (1862) all matching on butt, TG ,frame, cylinder, and cylinder pin - non-matching wedge. Bore is VG+ to excellent - bright and shiny with sharp rifling, but shows some mild corrosion, mostly at breech end - action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is excellent overall with no rust, pits, or corrosion and sharp markings, including sub-inspector mark on barrel - barrel retains about 60% blue thinning to a brownish patina beneath - cylinder has a sharp scene, perfect nipples, and retains about 50% thinning blue with grayish undertones - backstrap has a grayish patina. The frame shows traces of darkened case color and retains the original beveled stock attachment screws. Walnut grip is undamaged with excellent fit to frame and retains about 80% finish showing modeate wear, mostly at the butt - the cartouche on left side is weak due to wear and light stamping and only a faint outline can be seen under magnification. An early 4-screw 1860 Army that is all original with perfect mechanics and in VG + to near Fine condition that will make a handsome addition to a Civil War collection.
