inv. 5494 Firearms Comp, Made in England, Mdl. Alpine, Cal. .30-06. Ser24XX. A really beautiful example of English rifle manufacturing. The highly polished blued and receiver and barrel of this Mauser action gun retains about 99+% of the original finish. There are no pits. rust scratches or flakes anywhere. There is a tiny screw in the barrel to fill the hole where the front sight was. The Mauser flip safety has been replaced with an easy to use sliding button safety just behind the bolt handle. This allows the easy use of the safety as it does not hit the scope. The trigger, bolt and all it's parts are nickle plated. The bolt body has been tastefully engine turned or jeweled . The plating is 100%. The trigger guard and floor plate have an attractive flawless black matte finish. That too is also 100%. The beautifully grained blonde walnut stock has a handsome flared fore arm, cheek piece and curved pistol grip. Both the the pistol grip and forearm have rose colored wood caps with white spacers. Both are beautifully hand skipline checkered. The lacquer finish has thinned slightly on the cheek piece and the wrist from handling. The scope is a Weaver 3-9 X with parallax adjustments to 1000 yds. The mounts are also Weaver. The bore is factory fresh, with very sharp bright rifling and no visible graying. This is one helluva handsome custom gun. . You can take real pride in this beauty, super in the woods, or as a conversation in your collection.. Oops, just noticed, the bolt handle ball has been flattened on the bottom and is checkered, what a bit of class... $795.
