#5891, Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London; Henry Jones Double Screw-Grip Underlever Rebounding Hammer Double Rifle Made in 1880 in a 500 3" Black Powder Express with 28" Steel Barrels with a full length rib with 1 standing & 2 folding rear sights, Percussion style fences, Wedge forend attachment, The frame engraved "Charge 4 1/4 Drams Case 3 Inches", 14 5/8" L.O.P. over a checkered horn buttplate, 9 lbs. 2 oz., Horn grip cap, Sling eyes, 85% coverage of period scroll engraving, Both the forend and buttstock are very solid in every detail and every respect, Excellent wood with great color and contrast, The gun remains with original finish and the barrels retain their original blacking at 60%, Original oil finish at 80%, Original checkering at 90%, The screw heads remain excellent, The striker holes have no primer burn, Both bores are very close to excellent plus with solid grooves & lands and without any pits and have almost no surface blemishes. It is cased in a vintage brass cornered trunk that also remains in very nice shape. This is a very stout classic BPE double that has a lot of life to go and completely ready for the 21st century. The records loading and shooting go with the gun based on several loads using nitro for black that shot 2 1/2" groups at 60 yards and dead on to point of aim. About 50 loaded rounds go with the gun. This is another first rate quality, style, grace, workmanship, handling and H&H romantic from a great period at the pinnacle of sporting guns in the last years of the 19th century.
