Description: This is a light blue linen kepi, used by the Catholic Zouaves of Quebec in the early to mid-20th century, made in the French style (approximately size 6 7/8), with double bullion bordered black mohair band, black piping, and black quatrefoil galloon on the top disk. The black patent leather peak is still in very good shape with some crackling and flaking along the top surface, and the chinstrap is no longer present. The front of the band has a fairly crude, die-stamped brass infantry style hunting horn insignia. The interior of the cap has a black linen lining and wide leather comfort band that has worn over time, but is still intact and supple, although it has come partially detached from the crown at the front. This is a well-made kepi and would make a fine piece for display. SOLD Manufacturer: Militia Model: Kepi |
