Description:
These are a pair of 6x porro prism binoculars by Atchison & Co. Ltd. The binoculars retain 75-80% of their original matte black finish with fairly bright underlying brass along the edges and exposed surfaces where the black paint has worn or flaked away. The glasses have independently focused eyepieces with intact Bakelite eye-cups (one has remained black, but one has faded to a dark brown color). The optics are still usable, but are slightly foggy nonetheless. The housings are marked with double Broad Arrow deaccession markings, and a past owner has scratched his name in the left housing: “LT. WARN”. The glasses are housed in their original leather, “CASE NO. 3/PRISMATIC BINOCULAR/ATCHISON & CO. LTD./1918” marked case that is in fair-good condition with a heavily flaked closure tab, broken lid handle, and missing shoulder strap. This is a nice, serviceable, set of wartime binoculars and are in about good condition overall.
