Massive in both design and strength, the Hammond patented “BullDog” was produced between 1866-1880 with approx 8,000 made in all with this 4” barrel length nickel finish 44RF seemingly being the most popular configuration. It packed a pretty good punch, being as it used the 44Henry rifle cartridge, and woe to the recipient of this chunk of hot lead when dispenced at close range! This piece retains fine markings, 90-95% of the original nickel on one side and 40-50% thinning nickel on the other side, and no pitting of consequence. (The lesser side has a chipped grip at the heel, the other grip is near excellent.) Always an interesting conversation piece due to its massive size. About Fine/Fine+ overall. $895 SOLD Antique: Yes |
