From the AyA : The N° 4 has been AYA’s standard boxlock design since 1960. It is modelled on a Westley Richards boxlock action, brought to Spain by the King brothers. The Anson & Deeley action, the most famous of all boxlock designs, was created by two employees of Westley Richards in 1875, and ever since, Westley Richards guns have defined boxlock elegance.
When reviewing this particular gun, sn702-96 made in 1996, it is a fine little bird gun indeed. Weighing 5lbs. 1oz. and balanced perfectly between the hands, you can carry this gun all day with little fatigue. The 28ga. chambering is known to be deadly on grouse, quail, dove, and woodcock and in trained hands is good for any upland game in North America. The condition is as new, with virtually all of its factory finish remaining. Shipped with its original box and paperwork, you are basically getting a new gun at used gun prices (same gun new is about $4500). The 27" barrels are of the chopper lump design, long heralded as the very best method of joining the barrels and utilized mostly in "BEST GUNS" from the likes of Purdey and Holland & Holland. The receiver retains 99% bone and charcoal case color and is in perfect mechanical condition, with strong well timed ejectors and crisp double triggers. The wood has more figure than most No. 4 Models, and is in as new condition. Thanks for looking!
