CAL. CARBINE CIRCA 1942. 20” barrel stamped on left side of barrel “WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL” and with the pre war “.30 W.C.F.” caliber marking. Lyman #56 Receiver sight base (staff missing) as well as ramp front and elevator rear sights. Pre WW2 correct rounded magazine barrel band as opposed to the l945-46 flat band. Also has the long forend and no marking on the upper tang also correct for this time period and no tang sight holes. These were replaced by the factory with two tap screw holes(standard) for the Lyman receiver sight. Sometimes referred to as the early 5th Variation. Excellent overall with 98% original blue finish.
