SOLD A fine and beautiful Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 Super Grade Rifle chambered in 22 Hornet circa 1952...serial range 224XXX. This SG Hornet was re-chambered to 22 K Hornet but is not marked anywhere on the barrel or action. The chambering is a perfect 22 Kilbourne Hornet and so is the bore, shiny with strong lands and grooves with no corrosion. Original barrel blueing is about 98% with only the slightest wear at the muzzle...it has a perfect crown also. The front sight insert was shaved down flat with no damage to the integral mount base. The rear sight boss has a standard blank filler present. The action finish is also about 98% with the only noticeable wear on the bolt knob and the high edges of the receiver. The extractor blue is about 98% also. Matching bolt and perfect mechanically. The checkered steel butt plate has about 60% original blue. The trigger guard has about 95% original blue and the Super Grade floor plate has about 70% original blue. All screws remain in excellent condition and have not been buggered up. The beautiful dark straight grain walnut SG stock remains in great condition with sharp checkering and only a few dings and dents with no cracks or repairs of any kind...original stock varnish is 95%+. The ebony fore end tip remains in great shape also with no chips or cracks. It has the original Super Grade sling swivels present also. The original period Lyman All-American 2 1/2 power rifle scope is clear and optically perfect with a standard cross hair. The period Leupold Detacho Quick Release bases and rings are in excellent condition with almost all of the original blueing. A beautiful and desirable 22 K Hornet Super Grade for the collector or shooter of these Iconic American rifles. USPS priority insured shipped in a plastic hard case...80.00
